Throw Down
v. to celebrate in a big way, to fight for something meaningful, to contribute resources to make something happen. (Ref: urbandictionary.com)
Opening Party Friday January 27 | 8pm
Ladies and gents, boys and girls, come one come all! In the ring are: Sonny Assu, Gregory Ball, Megan Dickie, Tyler Hodgins and Alison MacTaggart. Now, get ready to Throw Down! Our season’s big opening event will celebrate a new contemporary exhibition all about the best of times & the worst of times in the business of art-making. Playful hits of humour are followed through with powerful punches of social commentary during this celebration of the creative struggle. Please note the change in scheduling versus what has been traditional for our openings. Gallery Members are invited to join the ring master & referee (curator Nicole Stanbridge) for an exclusive “pre-fight” talk examining the participating players’ stats and motivations [Member’s Exclusive In Conversation with the Curator @ 7pm].
Public installations and tours, as well as the Throw Down Art Forum (April 1st) will follow the opening event. For info and affiliated programs see: http://aggv.ca/exhibitions/throw-down
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
