Event Description

The Experience Variety Show
DEVIN ALEXANDER www.facebook.com/DevinAlexanderMusic Devin Alexander just recently celebrated his (somewhere around) 100th stand up show after (roughly) 1 year of comedy. And killed with his first ever headlining set at one of the hottest events Goldies Pizza has ever hosted. His hysterical criticisms of the often overlooked absurdities in life mixed with a stage presence that welcomes you in as a friend from the first word he says make Devin a local stand up comedian that is not to be missed. Not only will Devin be owning the stage as a comedian, but he's also going to give us all a demo of the music career he left behind to pursue comedy. 2. STEVE McGOWAN http://mycomedybook.com/stevemcgowan Steve McGowan is vulgar. I hope my Grandma never sees him perform. Ever. And you should hope the same for your Grandmothers. That being said, he brings the energy. He brings the heat. He's the physical manifestation of a weekend in Vegas. He gave Bret Jolliffe his first ever "comedy club" show back in 2011, and Bret is trying to give him a demo tape that isn't as embarrassing as the one he's currently got up on My Comedy Book. Come check out the performance Steve's going to be proud to have online. And possibly a late night reappearance, that time topless and what most might describe as "Steve jumping up on stage and getting in an arguement with the band about who should be getting to yell romance things into the microphone". 3. ALEX SPARLING http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYjKMQB2L6c I'm so glad Alex Sparling has online content that's impressive because now I don't need to sell you on him in this description. Instead, I can just write him a personal message. Hey Alex. It's sweet that you're on the show. It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to your set. Please let me know if I can arrange anything to make it extra special. We can play anything on the TV's. We can do whatever you like with the lighting/stage/music/etc. The options are endless. 4. ANDY REYNOLDS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUrY4fJO3gg&feature=youtube_gdata_player Let's just be totally honest on this one. Andy Reynolds was booked for another show then (due to poor organizational skills on my part) didn't get a chance to go up. So I put him on this show to make that up to him. That being said, I watched the video of a set he did out in Surrey and I was impressed. Because he was willing to do comedy in Surrey. And because he got laughs. And because he's got a voice no comedy show should be with out. I'm legitimately excited for this performance and you should be too. 5. CODY SHAW & KEVAN SCHELL http://vimeo.com/42317189 2011 - Cody Shaw and Kevan Schell pull off the greatest comedy show The Beaumont Studios has ever hosted. 2012 - Cody Shaw and Kevan Schell pull off the greatest comedy show The Beaumont Studios has ever hosted. It opened with the video I posted below their names. 2013 - I meet these two guys on my first night back in Vancouver. They were both drunk and rambling on about how good of a show they can put on. At first, they considered giving me a spot on their 3rd annual show. Then they start to question if the 3rd annual show is going to happen. Then literally every month of 2013 comes and goes, and all hope seemed lost. Then the unthinkable happens. Dec 17th, 2013 - Cody Shaw & Kevan Schell reunite to come give us the show you all very legitimately doubted would exist this year. THE EXPERIENCE This event is targeted at a tech savvy (90% of promotion will be digital), intelligent (the length of this write up is going to lose a lot of people), collaborative (there's going to be legitimate artistic goals for this night constructed to advance the creative stories of the performers involved) and supportive (as we're here to appreciate the legitimate talent that's involved with a live performance) type of person. I'm not even going to refer to anyone as audience to be honest. We're all going into this together. Just some of us have to pay money. We're calling it "The Experience" because that is what it's going to be. Expect to be in amazing photographs. Expect to be in amazing video content released afterwards to promote the January show. Expect to meet the artists. Expect the unexpected. Your Host: Bret Jolliffe Raised to believe that Santa was as real as Jesus, that touching a girl would ruin her life, that clothes he's not expected to "grow into" cost money but a trip to Disneyland was in the budget 5 times and that whether they're friends or strangers, it didn't really matter if I had anything to say to people because I'd mostly just be listening to my mother argue with them, Bret soon realized that interpreting the world was up to him. Here's a list of actual things Bret got away with in high school before being released into "the real world": - Getting cast as the lead role in a school play without auditioning. - Reading out a letter written to his English teacher about a homo erotic fantasy he'd been having about another one of the students in class. - Dressing up as Harold Crick from Stranger Than Fiction and auditing a class he wasn't enrolled in. - Making a pinata of an obese English teacher who was going in for a stomach staple and telling her "if she's going to beat obesity, she's going to have to BEAT obesity". - Driving a moped around the gymnasium recklessly during an assembly, then doing a bend and snap in front of a female teacher wearing just a vest and spandex short shorts. - Getting a gold cord for flawless attendance, effort and academic achievement. Tickets $20
Performers in the show are welcome to give out 2 for 1 tickets.
